The Golden Spear Mine

We are a small scale mining operation, that works the Golden Spear mine in the legendary Palmer river region of North Queensland Australia. On this ancient ground where the old timers spirit still lingers and the lure of gold found there still has its feverish charm to lure men and women to search the last unknown places for their own bits of gold, or even the extreme who go for the dream, of a small scale gold mine or claim to help sate the never ending fever!

Although the danger of hostile natives in the bush is over, there are still the risks of sickness, hunger and thirst. And of course, even today, the perils of getting irretrievably stuck, or lost in the vastness of north Queensland wilderness, notwithstanding G.P.S., 4X4’s, satellite maps and so on!

And let’s not talk about the resurgent danger of being eaten by crocodiles, bitten by brown snakes or death adders, assaulted by drop bears, stung by box jellyfish, charged by a bull, attacked by ants, swooped by magpies, drained by march flies, taken by wild pigs, swarmed by flies or drowned in the killer whirlpools of our raging wet season rivers, then eaten by crocodiles and ants!

All for a just bit of gold!!
